AUSTRALIAN MONEY MARKET
Australian Money Market is a web-based service that provides Advisers and Investors with a central portal to source, compare and invest in Term and Cash Deposits. The service is differentiated from other comparator sites by a combination of its technology and underlying settlement account facility.
Technology
Money Market is a web portal that connects Investors chasing the best cash rates with Deposit Taking Institutions (DTI) seeking deposit inflows.
From the DTI's (ie. Banks, Building Societies etc.) perspective the portal is an inexpensive and efficient way to reach new customers because there are no 'bricks and mortar" expenses; and because DTI's are able to control the rates they are prepared to offer, by altering the default interest rates they have set in the system. Changes can be made daily.
From the Investor's perspective, the dynamic nature of the rate changes means they are benefiting from the competition between DTI's.
Settlement Account
Incorporated into Money Market is a settlement account facility that enables users to transact deposits within the site. Unique to cash comparator sites, this feature allows advisers/investors to compare rates and then electronically transfer monies between funds with limited ongoing paperwork. Once a client is registered it becomes almost a 'click of the mouse' exercise to compare, transfer and transact.
Money Market has currently been targeted at HNW direct investors, corporates, financial advisers and accountants. The service can be badged for groups with significant volumes.
An opportunity may exist for the right partner to take the site/service and target it at the retail market. Such a move would necessitate the party has the requisite marketing skills, customer support capabilities and experience in mass market delivery.
Global Patents for Money Market are pending and partners in the UK, Asia and NZ are currently looking to use the technology, processes etc. to launch local services in their own countries. A number of professional advisory groups have also elected to operate with a private badge in Australia.
